Volunteer Recognition Dinner, April 2010

On April 22, 2010 New York Methodist Hospital honored the invaluable contributions of volunteers at the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner and Ceremony.   In the past year 760 volunteers have given more than 65,000 hours of service. 

Four volunteers were highlighted for their exceptional service and were presented with awards by doctors, administration and board members from the hospital. See photos from the event.

The Volunteer Department is incredibly grateful to all of our volunteers for the time and service you give! Thank you!

 

Family Caregiver Program Happenings  
 

On On April 6, the Family Caregiver Volunteers came together to share their concerns
and ideas with nursing administration.  Family Caregiver Volunteers visit with patients
and caregivers offering information, a listening ear and emotional support.  Currently
we have 15 Family Caregiver Volunteers and we are looking to grow and expand. 
Last month the volunteers met with over 700 caregivers and patients.

Step by Step Program News

On March 19 the Step By Step Volunteers attended the United Hospital Funds 17th Annual Hospital Auxilian and Volunteer Achievement Awards ceremony at the Waldorf Astoria where three of their own were honored for their exceptional service.  The Step By Step Volunteers meet one on one with parents in Methodists Outpatient Pediatric Clinic.  They teach the parents key milestones to track and monitor in their childrens growth and development.  Honorees Mickey Schwartz, Henry Spadaccini and Judy Tonick have been dedicated volunteers to the Step By Step Program giving over 700 hours of combined service.   Since November 2008 the Step By Step Volunteers have had over 1,000 sessions with parents.
