Frequently Asked Questions
What is your time commitment? The minimum time commitment is two 4-hour shift a week for a total of 150 hours and 6 months, unless otherwise specified. You must be able to commit to coming on a weekly basis.
Is there an age requirement? The minimum age is 16. During the months of June, July & August the minimum age is 14.
What is the process? Once your application is receive, it is reviewed and assessed. If we have a program that matches your qualifications and desires, we will send you an email to set up an interview. After the interview, you will be invited to attend the necessary orientations. In addition medical clearance is required to certify you are vaccinated from Measles, Mumps, varicella & rubella and also free of Tuberculosis.
How long does it take to be processed? On average, it takes 3-5 weeks to be completely processed and ready to volunteer.
Can I volunteer just for the summer? Yes. We accept students age 14 and up for summer placements June - August. In addition, we also have a special summer college internship.
Will I be able to shadow a Doctor or have a clinical experience? No. We do not offer shadowing or clinical experiences through the volunteer office.
Do you have research positions available? Yes. Please inquire with our office for further details.
If I volunteer will I get a job at the hospital? Volunteering at the hospital does not guarantee employment.
How long do you keep applications? Online inquiry forms are deleted from our system after 30 days of inactivity. Volunteers who begin the clearance process but do not follow through are deleted from our system at that time. |
