Application
The Anesthesiology program at New York Methodist Hospital is an accredited four-year program. Applications for CA-1 year (PGY2) are to be made one year in advance. There are thirteen CA-1, CA-2 and CA-3 positions. The Department of Anesthesiology at New York Methodist Hospital does not currently participate in ERAS. A universal application* should be mailed directly to the department. The paper application should be accompanied by a curriculum vitae, dean's letter from medical school, at least three letters of recommendation**, medical school transcripts, personal statement and USMLE scores. International medical graduates are required to produce an ECFMG certificate and are encouraged to take the USMLE step 3.
Applications are accepted from August through January. Once the application is received with all the necessary documents, the application will be carefully reviewed and eligible candidates will be called for an interview. Interviews are usually conducted in November, December, January and February. Forty to 50 candidates are invited for an interview every year for the CA-1 positions. The program goes through the National Residents' Match Program (NRMP) and also offers positions outside of the match. Applicants have the choice of completing the PGY1 year either at New York Methodist Hospital or elsewhere.
