Complementary Medicine

Acupuncture has been used effectively for centuries in the treatment of many conditions, especially the alleviation of pain. Acupuncture employs the use of very fine needles along various pathways, called meridians, through which the body’s energy or qi (chee) flows.

The imbalance in the flow of qi can be restored by the use of acupuncture.

Chiropractic is the non-operative treatment of back and neck pain, and neuromuscular conditions of the spine.  Spinal manipulation, a gentle force applied by the hands to various points of the spine, is very effective in reducing pain and helping the body to function properly.

Qigong (pronounced ‘chee kung’) a 3,000 year old ‘Health and Wellness Practice’ involves slow, gentle, repetitive movements and is known for releasing stress, lowering blood pressure, increasing flexibility, enhancing immune function and improving mood, among a great many health benefits.

Reiki, meaning “energy” in Japanese, is used to activate the body’s natural healing energy through touch. Reiki practitioners apply energy by touching certain points on the body to treat stress as well as the pain associated with injury and illness.

Massage therapy or soft tissue manipulation, may be effective in the management of
pain and discomfort, improvement in circulation and in the treatment of an array of motion limitations. Among the conditions treated with massage therapy are osteoporosis, arthritis, stress and numerous chronic and post-operative conditions.
