Vascular Procedures -- 718.780.3288
Angiography Angiography involves taking x-ray images after an injecting contrast dye, which allows the physician to study the blood flow in the arteries. The image produced can be used to examine arteries throughout the body, including those in the legs, kidneys, head, and lungs.
Interventional Radiology Procedures New York Methodist physicians use interventional radiology procedures to treat vascular diseases. Two examples of interventional radiology procedures include:
- Balloon angioplasty, which widens the channel to increase blood flow by inflating a balloon within the blood vessel
- The use of stents, which are expandable metal tubes placed within the vessel to maintain a widened channel
