Welcome to New York Methodist

Stanley Sherbell, M.D.Our residency programs offer young physicians excellent clinical training programs and fine clinical practice opportunities with a diverse patient population and a wide variety of pathology.

New York Methodist, founded in 1881, is the oldest of the seventy-eight hospitals that were founded by the United Methodist Church. Now a secular institution, the Hospital became affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Hospital and the Weill Cornell Medical College in 1993.

These affiliations assures New York Methodist's place as a quality teaching hospital and has allowed graduate medical education to flourish.

Another great advantage of our Hospital is its location in Park Slope, Brooklyn. For the past thirty years, Brooklyn has been engaged in a remarkable renaissance and Park Slope is one of its most vital communities. Its proximity to Manhattan and its friendly, small-town atmosphere make the Slope an ideal place for a professional to practice and raise a family.

I am delighted by your interest in New York Methodist Hospital and am pleased to invite interested candidates to apply for a residency.

Stanley Sherbell, M.D.
Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs
