The Institute for Cancer Care
When the threat of serious illness strikes, people become concerned
about finding the best possible care. The Institute for Cancer Care at
New York Methodist Hospital brings together a group of specialists and
medical services to provide comprehensive diagnosis and treatment so
that patients may receive the ongoing care and services they need. At
the same time, it provides patients and families the resources necessary
to choose intelligently among diagnostic and treatment options and to
maintain lifestyles as close as possible to those that existed before
the diagnosis.

The Institute's panel of physicians includes specialists in all areas of internal medicine. When necessary, pain management specialists, physicians and therapists specializing in rehabilitation, psychologists, and social workers may also be consulted. Whatever their specialty, all of the members of the Institute's multidisciplinary team are dedicated professionals who recognize that a person with cancer is still, first and foremost, a person, entitled to explanations, support and counsel, along with the latest medical techniques.
Our team also includes a patient navigator who is a person dedicated to helping meet the practical needs of patients and caregivers by connecting them to resources, programs and services of the American Cancer Society and our community partners. This navigator serves as a personal guide to patients and caregivers as they face the psychological, social and financial challenges of dealing with cancer.
New York Methodist Hospital is one of the few hospitals in Brooklyn to be accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons. The Hospital is also affiliated with the Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center of NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital.
