Anesthesiology Services
Anesthesia allows doctors to numb all or parts of the body they are treating, so the patient cannot feel any pain. The Department of Anesthesiology at New York Methodist provides comprehensive clinical anesthesia services using state-of-the-art technology. Working closely with surgeons, OBs, and other doctors, the anesthesiologists administer anesthetics for a wide variety of medical and surgical procedures.
The Obstetric Anesthesia Service provides analgesia for labor, Cesarean sections, and other obstetric procedures. The service also manages post-partum pain in conjunction with the acute pain service. A dedicated obstetric anesthesia service operates 24 hours a day to ensure continuous coverage and immediate availability.
In addition, the Department of Anesthesiology offers pain management services. Pain specialists are available for consultation for patients with chronic or acute pain in the Hospital. The Pain Management Center offers comprehensive outpatient pain evaluation, diagnosis, and therapy. Various therapeutic options are available, talk to your pain specialists about the options.
